How Inspira Connected Culture and Community Through Experiential Marketing at Lollapalooza

Feb 2, 2026 10:00:00 AM / by Inspira Marketing

Café Bustelo has always stood for living life passionately, inviting everyone to sip in the vibrant, magnetic energy of Latin culture, but as the brand prepared to debut a new line of roasts and flavors (Light, Medium, Dark, and Dulce de Leche), the moment called for more than an average product launch. It was an opportunity to extend Café Bustelo’s passionate following beyond its core audience and cultivate genuine relationships with a broader, mainstream consumer base.

To meet that ambition, Inspira, a fully integrated brand relationship agency specializing in cultivating brands and consumers, set out to design an integrated marketing program that would do more than generate buzz. It would build meaningful, lasting connections by immersing consumers and giving them a genuine taste of Café Bustelo’s culture, community, and flavor.

Our campaign sought to introduce Café Bustelo to consumers who crave vibrancy and authenticity in their daily rituals, and the experience needed to feel alive—distinctly Latin, unapologetically bold, and irresistibly shareable—while still appealing to a new generation of Zillennial coffee lovers.

The objectives were clear: 1) drive awareness of Café Bustelo’s new offerings while celebrating its signature energy and visual vibrancy, 2) create emotional engagement through taste and shared experience by transforming sampling into a moment of connection that inspires future purchase intent, 3) expand beyond the brand’s traditional East Coast stronghold, accelerating household penetration and trial in new regions, and 4) amplify the cultural energy across digital, social, influencer, and earned media to extend engagement long after the first sip.

This foundation set the stage for a multi-sensory, culturally immersive experience that invited consumers to step inside Café Bustelo’s world—a place where art, music, and coffee converge, and every interaction brews a deeper connection.

3-1

In service of one clear objective—to introduce culturally open coffee drinkers to the vibrant identity and experience of Café Bustelo—Inspira designed a campaign that met consumers where they live, play, and celebrate. Recognizing that nearly half of Gen Z drinks coffee daily and coffee connects across cultures, we focused on three key audiences: 1) Gen Z and younger Millennials seeking flavor and authenticity, 2) the multicultural audiences aligned with Café Bustelo’s Latin energy, and 3) mainstream music enthusiasts inspired by diversity and creativity, especially at festivals. These audiences guided an experience turning coffee moments into meaningful connections.

4-1

Our team built the Bodega de Café Bustelo, transforming a familiar neighborhood icon—the corner bodega—into a multi-sensory, immersive experience. The journey began at Lollapalooza, where a 30x30 footprint stood out amid festival chaos. Outside, vivid murals and cultural touchpoints set the tone, as guests were handed disposable cameras to capture the day through their own lens, before dropping them into a branded postbox to be developed and returned as printed keepsakes. Nearby, a piragua cart served espresso-flavored shaved ice, an exclusive treat that merged Latin street culture with festival cool.

Inside, the bodega pulsed with life as brand ambassadors decked out in Café Bustelo gear greeted guests, inviting them to sample new flavors. A deli case transformed into a DJ booth kept vibes electric, while coolers stocked with custom-designed RTD-style cans concealed branded cooling towels to take home. Overhead, Café Bustelo cans dangled like lanterns, while floor graphics boldly displayed the brand’s “Está Aquí” tagline underfoot.

Visitors could then “Bustelo Yourself” in an interactive photo booth, pose beside the quintessential “out of order” ATM, play scratch-to-win games for branded prizes like lip balm, headbands, and mini speakers, or discover hidden easter eggs from fictional Bustel-Os Cereal to Abuela’s detergent—a nod to celebrating Café Bustelo as a staple in Latin households. Plus, to extend reach, Inspira collaborated with PSOne to have culturally aligned creators share content online.

After Lollapalooza, the bodega traveled to the Portola and When We Were Young festivals— both key destinations for Zillennials in the Western U.S. Then to sustain momentum beyond the festival circuit, the experience extended even further into retail, partnering with Chicago Fire FC and over a half dozen retailers to deliver a traveling pop-up in five additional key markets. Despite smaller footprints, these abbreviated activations mirrored the same high-energy, flavor-forward spirit.

Zillennials come to Lollapalooza for memories that last long after the music fades—and Café Bustelo gave them a way to capture those moments with personality and heart. Knowing that today’s audiences crave both shareable content and tangible keepsakes, the Bodega de Café Bustelo married nostalgia with modern storytelling through standout photo experiences.

First, the “Bustelo Yourself” booth invited guests into two colorful, immersive scenes inspired by the brand’s national “Está Aquí” campaign—one evoking the rhythm of a city train, the other radiating pure festival energy. Each moment then became a personalized video clip complete with a signature Café Bustelo audio and animated backgrounds, instantly delivered via SMS for seamless sharing. The result: high-energy, branded content that turned participants into proud ambassadors of Café Bustelo’s world.

Then, to deepen connection beyond the digital realm, Café Bustelo reintroduced the charm of analog storytelling with branded disposable cameras. Select festivalgoers were invited to document their personal journeys, return their cameras to the Café Bustelo mailbox, and later receive a custom photo album filled with developed prints— a meaningful keepsake that reignited their festival memories and deepened emotional connection to the brand.

5-1

By blending the instant gratification of social media with the emotional depth of physical memories, Café Bustelo created an activation that lived far beyond the event. Every photo, every album, every shared post became part of a larger story—one of connection, culture, and community. It was an experience as flavorful and enduring as the coffee itself.

From the electric energy of Lollapalooza, Portola, and When We Were Young to retail stores across the country, Café Bustelo’s Bodega experience sparked a movement rooted in flavor, culture, and connection. Across the campaign, the activation delivered impact at scale earning more than 685,000 impressions, generating 68,500 direct engagements, and distributing nearly 45,000 product samples of Café Bustelo’s new roasts. Every sip, smile, and selfie became a touchpoint in a growing community of brand advocates.

Photo activations also became powerful relationship builders—4,500 personalized photos were captured, and a remarkable 70% return rate was reported for the disposable cameras, resulting in personalized photobooks that reignited festival memories and fostered emotional loyalty long after the event. Attendees also took home over 7,500 branded giveaways, extending the brand’s presence into everyday lives and reinforcing Café Bustelo as a vibrant companion in moments big and small.

Lastly, through eight strategic partnerships—including Chicago Fire FC, Jewel-Osco, Albertsons, Kroger, BJ’s, VONS, ShopRite, and Safeway—the activation expanded beyond the brand’s East Coast roots to connect with new audiences nationwide.

By blending festival joy with retail accessibility and shareable storytelling, Café Bustelo transformed casual curiosity into lasting relationships. The campaign didn’t just drive awareness; it deepened connections and celebrated the brand’s core truth: that coffee is more than a beverage. It’s a bridge between people, cultures, and communities.

Festivalgoers raved about the experience:
